Tabata what?

Over the past few months, I’ve started noticing the word Tabata around. First was on The Fitnessista’s blog, then as I was reading older posts getting introduced to The Lean Green Bean, I saw it again. Well, if these 2 ladies who are my blogging fitness inspiration are doing it, then I want to as well. Doesn’t sound at all like the little sister doing everything big sister is doing does it? Ok, good.

So, I started incorporating a bit of Tabata into my fitness. In. Love.

A bit of a synopsis, although I’m sure google would be more “technical”. Tabata is a 4 minute workout broken down into 20 second sections of fast, plyometric movements designed to sky rocket your heart rate, followed by 10 seconds of rest. You do that 8 times for the total of 4 minutes, and repeat if desired. It’s like HIIT on crack.

Who doesn’t love burning 300+ calories in 12 minutes? And I’m not so worn out that I just want to sleep or be lazy for the rest of the day. I love it at the beginning of the day, then I shower and start my day reminded of all the strong, wonderful, powerful things my body can do if I fuel/treat it right.

Today I did this and this, thanks to Fitnessisa, and made it a Tabata Sunday.

Now I’m off to enjoy Sunday. Hope yours is great.
